Apr. 3rd, 2014 09:43 pmA week and three days has gone by since lunch in the hangar, and Raleigh has done his level-best to stay out of Chuck's way. When he hears or sees the younger man coming close, he finds a reason to go the opposite way. Of course, his avoidance of another situation doesn't mean that he's not trying to think of ways to ... let bygones be bygones, even though he knows damn well that it's going to take a lot of work to convince Chuck that he's not at threat, nor was it a mistake to bring him here at all.
And so, he asks around.
What he learns is that Striker needs a specific part, because the one they've got is wearing down, and it's not going to be pretty when it fails. So he spends what little free time he has searching for it - which is actually a whole lot easier said than it is done.
He finds a friend of a friend that has a cousin that knows a guy, and he's got to pay an arm and a leg for it, but the next morning finds him handing the package over to the mechanic he trusts the most, note included. It's nothing special, and it's nothing long, just a little note to say 'Heard you were in need of this. May it do you well'.
He certainly doesn't expect a thank you, or anything in return, or even acknowledgement of what he's done. He just ... continues his daily routine, doing his best to get from one day to the next, much like everyone else.
It's all he can do at this point, really.
